*Los Angeles – Hit Playwright/Director, Donald Welch is excited about the upcoming release of his 2nd novel, “In My Sister’s House,” following the success of his first novel, “The Bachlorette Party.”

It appears One World/Random House are equally excited because they are all also releasing an audio version of the book. Both versions will be released nationally on Tuesday, February 2, 2010.

Exclusive book excerpt:
“Meet Skylar Morrison- owner of Philly’s hottest nightclub, Legends- and her beleaguered twin sister Storm, fresh out of prison and intent on cashing in her stake in the club. These twins couldn’t be more different (and their extended Legends family more outrageous) and in this page turner, they’ll  keep you on edge of your seat until the last sentence. “In My Sister’s House” tells how the sisters will have to face their shared, tumultuous past -and a future that’s both uncertain and wide open.”

About Donald Welch:
A native of Philadelphia, now living in Los Angeles, Welch began his career as a successful nightclub singer in the Philadelphia and New York areas. It was during this time that he developed a very loyal following with his smooth tenor/baritone vocals. Although   making quite a comfortable living as a nightclub singer, he knew that there was much more to conquer in show business.  After writing a series of stage plays, and with the urging of hometown friend superstar Will Smith, he relocated to Los Angeles in 2000.

“Will has always considered me as family. He believes in me and I have his and Jada’s full support,” Welch quickly states. “When one of the biggest screen stars in Hollywood has your back, along with your faith in God, what else does one need?”

It was while there in 2006 he wrote what would become his most successful stage play, “The Bachelorette Party.” The “BP” deals with day to day lifestyles, situations, both good and bad of nine very close African-American female friends who gather together to celebrate the upcoming wedding of one of their friends. The women however end up getting more than they bargain for when emotions run high, painful memories surface, friendships are tested and LOVE is measured by circumstances. The BP became somewhat of a cult classic, and went on to have a 2 year run in Los Angeles before embarking on a USA tour.

It was also at this time that Random House Publishers approached him and a two book deal was secured. After witnessing the excitement himself, Will Smith immediately came on board as co-producer, and eventually optioned the script for a film.

Celebrity Supporters:
And Don seems to have a lot of  star power support: Hill Harper, Vanessa Bell Calloway Loretta Devine, Dawnn Lewis Kenny Lattimore, Eric Benet, and Ananda Lewis are just a few that have endorsed this novels with their individual quotes.

In addition, Devine, Calloway, Marla Gibbs, Dorien Wilson Tatyana Ali, Freda Payne, and Dawnn Lewis are among the many that have performed in a Don B. Welch production.

Welch has an uncanny ability to tap into the female psyche with such precision and grace. Writing novels where most often the protagonist is female was just something he stumbled upon. After writing the “Bachelor Party” (male version of friend bonding) he was besieged with requests from female audiences to tell their side. However, don’t pigeon-hole Welch’s writing style because he is as equally gifted and comfortable in any genre he wishes to explore.

The sky is the limit for this Renaissance man, who continues to explore every element of his many talents.
