*In the September cover story for GQ magazine, LeBron James still seems somewhat torn about leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Miami Heat.

The magazine followed James from the onset of the “Summer of LeBron” all the way through when he made his ESPN announcement to leave the Cavaliers. James gave some insight to his mindset throughout the process – and said he wouldn’t rule out making a return to Cleveland.

“If there was an opportunity for me to return and those fans welcome me back, that’d be a great story,” James said. “Maybe the ones burning my jersey were never LeBron fans anyway.”

But that might have to be under different ownership. Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert, who blasted King James for his choice to go to Miami, was also mentioned in the GQ article.

“I don’t think he ever cared about LeBron,” James said. “My mother always told me: ‘You will see the light of people when they hit adversity. You’ll get a good sense of their character.’ Me and my family have seen the character of that man.”

James went on to discuss handling adversity, touching on how growing up in Akron always kept him grounded.

“That’s what keeps me humble, because I know my background, know what my mother went through,” he says. “I never get too high on my stardom or what I can do. My mom always says, and my friends say, ‘You’re just a very low-maintenance guy.'”

In the end, the NBA superstar said that he doesn’t regret leaving the Cavaliers and is looking forward to starting a new chapter of his career in South Beach.

“They’re happy to see me happy,” he says. “That’s what they can see in my face. They say: ‘It’s been a while since we’ve seen you look like that.'”
