*Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is back in the studio, doing his acting thing. The Hollywood Reporter says the actor and former wrestler is working on a sequel to “Journey to the Center of the Earth” called “Journey to the Mysterious Island.”
Brendan Fraser was the lead star in the original adventure, but because of a disagreement regarding start dates with New Line Cinema, he won’t be back.
However, The Rock won’t be playing the role of Prof. Trevor Anderson. He will be the boyfriend of Sean Anderson’s mother, who is forced by the young boy “to bring on a trip to a mythical and monstrous island to find his missing grandfather.”
A few more characters will also be introduced in the sequel. The movie, set to release fall 2011, will be shot in 3D, just like its predecessor.
