*Trendsetting must have been the theme for 2010 because artists in all categories of the entertainment industry are raising the bar. Kirk Whalum, an award-winning saxophonist has broken the mold. He is the first artist in any genre to receive four Grammy nominations in three different areas — Pop, R&B and Gospel for his two albums, “The Gospel According to Jazz: Chapter III” and “Everything is Everything: the Music of Donny Hathaway.”

As the year is closing out, Whalum can definitely look back in satisfaction as his music and talent has brought him great success. He started out the year with his gospel album that debuted at #4 on the Billboard Jazz Album and at #11 for the Gospel chart. Months later, his next album hit the chart at #4.

“When your peers listen to your art and heart, and decide that you should be commended, I call that fuel!  My tank is overflowing at the serendipity of four Grammy nominations, especially because of all the awesome recordings that were submitted. We’re extremely excited!” says Whalum.

Also, in light of the holiday season, he has also released a digital-only compilation of unreleased tracks entitled, “More of Everything is Everything.”
