*New York City is home to some of the most expensive luxury apartment homes in America.  And a lot of those places have reputations for being, shall we say, exclusionary.

And they cover up their exclusiveness with eligibility requirements.  If you have 355,000 hairs on your head and their bylaws call for 349,000, well, you’re out of luck.  It appears that the same type of discrimination is happening in an infamous apartment building called the Dakota. John Lennon was a resident there and he was shot and killed one night on his way in.

According to the New York Times, the discrimination lawsuit against the Dakota was  brought on by Alphonse Fletcher. Jr., who is already a resident of the building and former president of the board.  (more…)
