*Los Angeles, CA – Faye Washington, CEO of YWCA Greater Los Angeles will be honored at the 26th Annual Women of the Year Luncheon on Monday, March 14, 2011 hosted by the Los Angeles County Commission for Women.
For the past 25 years, the Commission has recognized women who have worked to bring about social and economic change, served as outstanding role models for women, worked on behalf of women’s issues and demonstrated oustanding performance within their professions to further advocate women’s rights.
Washington is being recognized for her career of working to improve the quality of life for women and girls in the Los Angeles area and was selected to be honored from the 1st District, which is represented by the Honorable Gloria Molina.
Formerly a retired high level executive for Los Angeles County government, Washington was courted to return to the workforce as the CEO of the YWCA to infuse her groundbreaking vision into the organization to ignite a new direction. Since taking the helm 10 years ago, assets have risen by 400 percent and the organization envisions sustained growth for the next 20 years.
