*Her uncle Tiger may be in a winning drought, but Cheyenne Woods found herself atop the leaderboard after winning the individual title at the ACC Women’s Golf Championships, which began Friday and was played at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C.

The Wake Forest junior finished a career-best 5-under par to win her first ACC title, and has become the third straight Demon Deacons’ golfer to win the individual championship.

“I really felt confident this week,” she told wakeforestsports.com. “I was hitting the ball well in practice coming in and especially today, I was able to hit the ball where I wanted. That was key because these greens are really slick and you needed to hit the ball in the right spots.”

On Twitter, Tiger Woods congratulated his niece, a Phoenix native who is the daughter of his half brother, Earl Jr.

“My niece, Cheyenne, just won the ACC golf title by 7 shots!” he wrote. “That’s awesome, I’m so proud of her.”

Tiger Woods’ last victory was at the Australian Masters in November 2009, less than two weeks before reports surfaced that he had cheated on his wife.
