*Los Angeles, CA —- Four of LA’s hottest up-and-coming actresses known as The siSTARS will host a special 90-minute Season Finale episode of Afterbuzz TV’s “Black Hollywood Weekly” live online at www.thesistars.com beginning at 6:30pm/PT 8:30pm/CT and 9:30pm/ET on Thursday, October 6, 2011.
This summer, Maria Menounos and Kevin Undergaro’s AfterBuzz TV Network premiered the first live broadcast of “Black Hollywood Weekly” with The siSTARS at the 2011 MTV Movie Awards Style Lounge.
The siSTARS offer the latest in news and entertainment from the perspective of four unique, sexy, and smart women in Hollywood. The four-woman team consist of Caryn Ward Ross (BET’s The Game, Love That Girl) Chrystee Pharris (NBC’s Scrubs, Passions), Janora McDuffie (ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy, The Young & The Restless), and Tanjareen Martin (Love For Sale, Miss March) who each dish out their take on current events, movies, fashion, music, and everything in between.
Described as “sexy-smart entertainment”, The siSTARS take an unflinching look at urban and pop culture stories and how they intersect with entertainment. The quartet tackle interesting and offbeat topics relevant to the African-American community, and engage their audience via twitter and Facebook on various topical debates.
The season finale of “Black Hollywood Weekly” will feature special guest Jonathon Prince, a self-described “Athlivist” (athlete-activist) who has run over 10,000 miles for countless causes and ideals he holds close to his heart. Last month, he launched his “Mile on the Moon.” Prince is currently spotlighted in the latest issue of Jet Magazine (“Bound For The Moon” By Brandi Forte – page 28) and is presently training to make history by becoming the first athlete to run a mile on the moon by 2016. The philanthropist, international runner, motivational speaker and artist is well on his way of completing his mission to spread a message of hope around the world.
The siSTARS will also explore the intersection of race, gender, and sexuality as it relates to SlutWalks (a global protest against women being blamed for sexual assault based on how they are dressed or their appearance). Joining the lively discussion is special guest Farah Tanis, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Black Women’s Blueprint, Inc. Tanis recently penned an open letter criticizing SlutWalks on the behalf of Black women.
Past guest include Producer Will Packer (Rainforest Films, Founder of Bounce TV Network), Filmmaker Bill Duke, Dr. Stephen Ward, Author/MSNBC correspondent Sophia A. Nelson, NBA-great John Salley, Dr. Ida Jones, Producer Earnest Winborne, actors Robert Ri’Chard, Wesley Jonathan, Amin Joseph, Aaron Spears, comedian Michael Colyar, Dr. Geoff Ward, and host of other special guest.
When asked about future plans for The siSTARS, Chrystee Pharris replied, “As an Emerson Alumni, it has been a true joy to work with Maria and the entire Afterbuzz team. I was pleased that it was such a great fit. We are all really excited about the possibilities that lie ahead!” Tanjareen Martin added, “We have several individual and group projects coming up.” “This won’t be the last you see of The siSTARS!” Janora McDuffie concluded.
