*Gospel singer Tré Thomas added another item to his growing list of accomplishments during what has proven to be a breakout year for the rising star.

On Saturday (10-01-11), the singer grabbed the award for Best Upcoming Male Artist at the first annual Love From the Soundstage Awards at the Spectrum Theatre in Arlington, Va.

In a category dominated by R&B artists, Thomas received the most votes, stepping ahead of four other singers.

“This award shows that my hard work is not going unnoticed,” said Thomas. “It is great to be recognized, but the fact people voted to the point that I actually won shows that people are paying attention. I cannot thank my fans enough. My win is their win, and any milestone that I reach is due to the support they have given me.”

Thomas performed at the show, wooing the crowd, which included Jeannie Jones, radio personality for 93.9 WKYS.

His recent success is making it easy for the singer to segue into the career he always desired in the secular industry.

This month, he is planning the long anticipated release of his single, “Finally,” which will appear on his sophomore project scheduled for release this fall. He will also be performing at Wednesday Night Live on October 12 at the Rankin Chapel at Howard University.

“I am very excited for my fans to hear the new single,” he said. “I think that they will love it, and it will be a great introduction to the music that I plan to share with the world.”
