The 110th Annual NAMM Show concluded on Sunday, January 22nd, 2012. I’m sure that another attendance record was broken when the official numbers are officially released.NAMM continues to be an economic boom for Anaheim and surrounding cities.”The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) today announced the final registration and exhibitor numbers for the 2012 NAMM Show, the largest and longest-running musical instruments and products trade show in the United States.At show close, NAMM reported 95,709 registered attendees, a six percent increase from last year and representing a new record for the 110-year-old show. International registration also experienced a 15 percent increase from last year to 11,981. The association previously reported strong exhibitor numbers, with 1,441 exhibitors at this year’s show, including 236 new exhibitors.
The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus Celebrated its’ 15th Anniversary at 2012 NAMM Show with a special performance by Bootsy Collins with special guest Verdine White and Bernie Worrell on January 20th, 2012.
Bootsy Collins played a mesmerizing set of high octane funk with a flurry of thumping bass fireworks for the funkateers in the large crowd.The powerful show took place on The Wanna Play?Stage of the Arena Plaza.A new generation of Funkateers were initiated in the Galaxy as a result of this concert.Several memoralbe tunes from the evening were “The Name is Bootsy,” and “Flashlight.” The Anaheim Convention Center Arena Plaza will never the be the same again after this show.Opening for Bootsy were The Bootsy Girls featuring Tamah-bass and Guitar Sallye.Malina Moye rocked out the show with guest bassist Divinity Roxx and Judith Hill on vocals.
This concert was held in conjunction with The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus.This is the most amazing premiere non-profit mobile recording studio and HD production faciltiy.This concert was a kick off to 15th years of bringing music education to students nationwide at the 2012 NAMM Show.The bus unveiled a new arsenal of equipment for the 2012 year,including Avid Pro Tools/HDX,and the show was streamed live made possible by NewTek and TodoCast via www.lennonbus.org.

Walking around the Convention Center floor provided some memorable sights and sounds.Comedian Sinbad was spotted checking out the latest gear at NAMM.Guitarist Sheldon Reynolds,Phil Gates and Alan Foster were jamming in the Marshal Electronics Booth.Blues guitarist Gregg Wright was also testing some guitars.Drummer Jonathan Moffett and guitarist,musicians on the Michael Jackson’s This Is It Band were signing autographs in the Marshal Electronics booth with other band mates.German guitar maker Jens Ritter presented blues guitarist Fillmore Slim with a custom made guitar name Isabella.Mr.Fillmore stated “B.B.King has his guitar he named Lucille,and now I(Fillmore Slim) has a custom made guitar named Isabella.”
This was my first time attending the NAMM Show.In the past I’m either out of town covering another event or covering another event around Los Angeles.My calendar will feature NAMM Shows in the future.
