*MiMi Plange presented her autumn/winter 2012 show in a private residential penthouse suite on the 58th floor at the ritzy Setai Fifth Avenue providing an unobstructed view of New York’s famed skyline; and her new line was as close to heaven as you’ll get on earth.
The idyllic show, which took place during New York Fashion Week on Sunday, February 12, 2012 and titled “Labyrinth,” was inspired by a “self-imagined surreal Nordic Forest” and provided an exotic utopia filled with cloths to die for. As a solo violinist provided classy music to look by, guests were able to take up close and personal looks at Plange’s hauntingly beautiful constructed designs.
It felt Camelotic in nature – purely crated garments of fabrics as smooth as silk and as velvety as Nat King Cole’s voice. The toned down colors shed light on the romantic detailed structure of the garments made of textured alpaca wool and metallic gold brocade.
Other colors included many shades of wine, ecru, coal and crimson set against muted tones of blush and eggshell blue. Once again, the charismatic designer delivered a line of great quality — an enchanting feeling of sensational splendor.
