Ellen Degeneres

*Despite the opposition, J.C. Penny stuck in there with Ellen DeGeneres.

The comedian/talk show host expressed her gratitude and excitement that the company continued with their new campaign.

She said she’s “proud and happy” that the store stood by her side and said there is no such thing as a “pro-gay bandwagon,” as alleged by the One Million Moms group which encouraged the retail store to drop DeGeneres.

“They (One Million Moms) wanted to get me fired and I am proud and happy to say that J.C. Penney stuck by their decision to make me their spokesperson,” she said.

The group made up of conservative Americans claimed that J.C. Penny was trying to target a new group by “jumping on the pro-gay bandwagon.”

“Being gay or pro-gay isn’t a bandwagon. You don’t get a free ride anywhere. There’s no music. And occasionally we’ll sing ‘We Are Family’ but that’s about it,” she said.
