“He says we need more firemen, more policemen, more teachers. Did he not get the message of Wisconsin? The American people did! It’s time for us to cut back on government and help the American people!”
And sitting next to the President at the debate table, Mr. Romney made this wrong-headed declaration:
“I love teachers, and I’m happy to have states and communities that want to hire teachers, do that. I — by the way, I don’t like to have the federal government start pushing its way deeper and deeper into — into our schools. Let the states and localities do that.”
How naïve and out of touch are you, Gov. Romney? States and local communities across this nation have been forced to lay off not only teachers but also librarians, school counselors. But your Republican allies in Congress killed President Obama’s legislation to re-hire those laid-off educators along with out-of-work firefighters and police officers.
