*Kelly Rowland wants to set the record straight and clear up any misconceptions that she’s jealous of Beyoncé.
The release of “Dirty Laundry” earlier in the year had people talking, with Kelly pouring her heart out about having to see Beyoncé while trying to attain her own spotlight while with Destiny’s Child.
While maintaining that she was happy for her friend getting to expand on her musical journey, Kelly never felt like she got her just due.
The quiet competition worsened once the group split, leaving Kelly stagnant while Beyoncé’s career took off. She commented on her inner conflict, singing, “While my sister was on stage, killing it like a motherf*cker, I was enraged, feeling it like a motherf*cker.”
Most people interpreted Kelly’s single a sign of jealousy and envy towards Beyoncé. But Rowland assured us on “Good Morning America” that was far from true.
“I’m not saying I’m jealous of her by any means!” Kelly clarified. “It’s so sad that people always go straight to that place [of jealousy]. It’s ridiculous. It’s basically about me going through some struggles in my life while she was doing her thing.”
“Dirty Laundry” is featured on Kelly’s album “Talk A Good Game,” which many critics say is her most revealing project to date.
