*The idiom, “The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree,” can positively and appropriately be applied to Karla Gordy Bristol.
Her father is the late great Motown songwriter/producer Johnny Bristol – who sang the Pop hit “Hang On In There Baby” – and her mother is former Motown Vice President Iris Gordy.
Both parents who eventually divorced had phenomenal careers in the music and entertainment industry.
Karla shows a natural gravitation as she aspires to eventually have her own network talk show. Among so many other things she’s involved in, she is currently working as co-chair of the Centennial Concert and Sing-along for the City of Beverly Hills.
The free event will take place January 28th at the Saban Theater featuring Betty White, Pat Boone, Florence Henderson, Richard Simmons, and more (see link below). She will be doing red carpet interviews, talking with city residents, and showcasing participants and city officials for BHTV10, Beverly Hills.
Karla is also working as the chair of the Beverly Hills Centennial Documentary Committee; production of the documentary is scheduled to begin in early February. Karla sees it as a good omen as it would coincide with both her parent’s birthdays in February. March 21st marks the 10th anniversary of her famous father’s passing.
Karla has covered many events as a Freelance Celebrity Interviewer, Host, Reporter, and Correspondent. To see her in action, please click on this Host Reel link:
Besides his many Motown hits, Johnny Bristol also produced songs for Boz Scaggs, The Osmonds, Tom Jones and many others. So at her disposal, Karla co-owns with her two siblings a music catalog of legendary hit songs – including many Motown hits like “Someday We’ll Be Together” – available for television and film licensing.
