Chadwick Boseman jokes about staring in his third sports movie, “Draft Day.”
“I love sports! There’s drama in sports,” continued Boseman. “There’s always a good story in sports. That’s the reason we like to watch sports center, halftimes and pregame shows. Sport films just give us the opportunity to tell more of the story.”
“I did a lot of eating! The preparation for this role was a lot of weight gain,” shared Boseman.
“Draft Day” also stars Kevin Costner and Jennifer Garner. The movie follows a fictional GM (Costner), through an oscillating first day of the NFL draft, where he has the opportunity to rebuild his dream team.
EURweb associate Fahnia Thomas was at the L.A. premiere to ask some of your favorite players, what their draft day was like.
“It was hectic!” Said Walter Thurmond. “Just sitting and waiting for the phone to ring! Pick after pick,” laughed the New York Giant. “It was an interesting process that I never want to go through again.”
“I had the phone to my ear all day,” chuckled San Diego Chargers, Dwight Freeney. “Teams were calling me but they weren’t picking me, and then all of a sudden they picked me! It was so exciting to see my name go across the bottom of the TV screen.”
“That day was horrible!” Exclaimed Jameel McClain. The current linebacker for the New York Giants, was signed by the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2008. “My draft day was different. I was expected to get drafted but I went undrafted.”
“Draft Day” is the first film to be endorsed by the NFL.
