*A new trailer for director Will Gluck’s urbanized “Annie” debuted on “Good Morning America” today with less musical numbers from the film and more jokes. [Scroll down to watch.]

It begins with Jamie Foxx as wealthy businessman and mayoral candidate Benjamin Stacks (an update on the Oliver “Daddy” Warbucks character). “I love this city — the harder I work, the more opportunities I can get. No matter who you are or what you are, you just gotta want it bad enough,” he says. “This city needs me,” to which Rose Byrne responds, “Alright, take it easy, Batman.”

As in the first official trailer, Annie (Quvenzhane Wallis) has a chance run-in with Stacks when he saves her from getting hit by a van — “like Batman,” he notes.  In this trailer, however, more of Wallis’ title character is included, as she is concerned more about how her hair looks than the fact that she’s just a tool in his campaign strategy.

Cameron Diaz, as the mean-spirited orphanage owner Miss Hannigan, also makes fun of Annie’s ample hair, while Benjamin himself has his own hair-related problems.

The modern update, produced by Jay Z and Will Smith, is due in theaters Dec. 19.
