*Another day. Another Chris Brown legal situation.
This time, it’s the Grammy-winning singer who’s doing the suing with claims that a guy he played against in a basketball game extorted him in an attempt to get money.
TMZ reports that Brown was sued by Malcolm Ausbon over a pick-up basketball game last July at an L.A. gym. Ausbon claims Brown attacked him over a foul call, and proclaimed he was a member of the Bloods.
Brown is countersuing Ausbon with claims that he had nothing to do with the fight and Ausbon knew it. Brown’s counter-suit, obtained by TMZ, goes on to say that despite knowing Brown had nothing to do with the fight, Ausbon tried to get the entertainer to give him a quarter of a million dollars.
Also noted in the counter-suit is Ausbon admitting to Brown’s people the “Loyal” singer was not the culprit. Despite this, Ausbon’s lawyer mentioned the following in a written demand:
— “Mr. Ausbon believes $250,000 will suffice compensating him for his physical and emotional injuries … Mr. Ausbon is placed in a position by the LAPD where he needs to decide whether he will press charges for aggravated assault and battery.”
— “However, Mr. Ausbon prefers not to resort to filing these claims or the lawsuit. He would rather be compensated.”
Ausbon’s lawsuit comes after Brown refused to pay the money. In the counter-suit, Brown’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, said Ausbon promised to keep the situation secret if Brown paid up.
