*A spilled drink resulted in the death of two people at the hands of Aaron Hernandez, according to prosecutors in the case.
TMZ.com reports the former New England Patriots tight end appeared in court in Massachusetts on Wednesday. During the proceedings, Hernandez was arraigned on murder charges for allegedly killing two people in 2012.
According to prosecutors, Hernandez was at Cure nightclub in Boston on July 15th 2012 when he had a chance encounter with Daniel Abreu. Officials noted that around the time of the killings, Hernandez had become increasingly paranoid that people were trying to disrespect him and were “testing” him in Boston-area nightclubs.
Prosecutors then mentioned how Hernandez spilled his drink, saying Abreu bumped into the athlete while dancing inside the club. From there, officials believe that Hernandez became upset with Abreu when he smiled and didn’t apologize for bumping into him.
Prosecutors continued stating their case as they mentioned that Hernandez pounded two more cocktails upon getting very worked up about the spilled drink and scoped out the area around the club, waiting for Abreu and his group to leave.
Hernandez then grabbed a loaded .38 caliber revolver he had hidden in his car and followed the car the victims were in, prosecutors stated while adding that Hernandez pulled up to Abreu’s car at a stop light and said, “Yo what’s up now?”
At that point, Hernandez fired all of the bullets in his gun, killing Abreu, his friend Safiro Furtado and wounding a third passenger. Those who witnessed the incident say they could hear Hernandez continue to pull the trigger even after all the bullets were fired.
Prosecutors say Hernandez then admitted to the shooting to an associate saying, “I think I got one in the head and one in the chest.”
Despite the admission, TMZ said that Hernandez pled not guilty to the murder charges.
