These may be the thoughts held by many who are saddened by the death of Manuel “Meme” Uribe, who had made history as “The World’s Heaviest” Living Human Being.

Uribe, who resided in Monterrey, Mexico, died on Memorial Day, May 26, at the age of 48.

When you view the video interview done by ABC in 2008, you can’t help but wonder how someone in his condition can be so…happy, so hopeful. But he was, as he told the reporter about the positive effects of his new diet, from which he had slimmed down the likes of two fully grown people, “2 stones” in weight, to about 867 pounds from his record peak weight of 1,230 pounds, which was certified in 2006 as a Guinness World Record.

Uribe’s death was confirmed by an official of the health department of Nuevo Leon state, where the city of Monterrey is located.

He had been confined to his bed in Monterrey for years, unable to walk on his own.
