She was awarded an NAACP award in the category of outstanding literary work from a debut author for her memoir titled “Nine Years Under” on February 14th, 2014. Sheri is a nominee for the 13th annual Wright Legacy Award in the category of fiction, non fiction, and poetry. Furthermore she has been featured in the New York Times, NPR, and essence magazine. More recently she has followed another passion which is teaching and is currently teaching an invigorating course called Mind, Body, and Soul at the Baltimore leadership school for young women in Baltimore, Maryland.
In 2007 Sheri lived in rural South Africa where she helped teach young African women the fundamental skills of journalism. While in Africa she worked as an editorial assistant for an international literary magazine. She has accomplished what some people only dream of achieving in one lifetime and will continue to do so with her brilliant writing skills and determination.
