*Police in New York have arrested one of the two men accused of assaulting V. Stiviano, the woman at the center of the L.A. Clippers scandal.
NBC New York reports that Dominic Diorio of Old Bethpage on Long Island was arrested Tuesday and charged with a third-degree hate crime and aggravated harassment. The 40-year-old man and an accomplice allegedly assaulted V. Stiviano on Sunday night outside the Gansevoort Hotel in Manhattan, punching her while shouting racial epithets.
According to USA Today, Stiviano was examined by a doctor who could not tell the extent of the injuries due to swelling. Despite this, the doctor believes she may have suffered a broken cheek. X-rays are currently planned for Stiviano in Los Angeles.
The New York Post notes that Diorio was then injured when passersby attacked him. Although authorities took him to the hospital after finding him drunk and bleeding, they didn’t realize he was a suspect in the attack.
Diorio was ultimately identified by Stiviano, who filed a police report, after officers put him in a lineup. Diorio lives with his parents, the Post mentioned.
“Wow, I’m not going to tell my wife about this. That’ll just upset her. I don’t know what to do,” Diorio’s father told the newspaper.
Stiviano has attracted all sorts of attention after she allegedly made secret recordings of LA Clippers’ owner Donald Sterling making racist comments. As a result, the controversial NBA exec was hit with a lifetime ban from the NBA and forced to the team.
Media sources state that Sterling appears ready to contest his punishment with a reported $1 billion lawsuit.
