*CNN Host Don Lemon may not be every black persons’ favorite when it comes to his viewpoints on anything black, but recently, still in the throws of anger and despair over the events taking place in Ferguson, a shocked audience watched and listened to him at a town hall meeting; where he described a run-in between his producer and a member of the National Guard. The producer, who the anchor refused to identify, had heard one of the officers call protesters “n–gers,” Raw Story reports.
While on a panel to discuss a proposal that suggests all law-enforcement officers wear body cameras, Kevin Jackson, from the Black Sphere website, noted that people often modify their behavior when they know a camera is present. “If there’s a camera, [the officer] knows he’s got to check himself,” Jackson explained. “And if you know an officer has a camera, you also have to check yourself.”
But Lemon wondered if it would deter a certain “type of person” from seeking work in law enforcement, and recounted the story about his producer to bring his point home.
