*Former “Good Morning Philadelphia” anchor and Emmy-winning journalist Sheinelle Jones is set to join NBC’s “Weekend Today.”
Jones spent nine years at “Good Morning Philadelphia” before resigning back in March to spend more time with her family.
“We are delighted to welcome Sheinelle Jones to NBC News,” said NBC News President Deborah Turness.
Turness added, “she is an experienced journalist, a fantastic reporter and a dynamic interviewer who will bring so much to Weekend TODAY and the entire NBC News team.”
This news comes a week after NBC announced Jenna Wolfe as the fitness and lifestyle correspondent — making a spot vacant for a weekend anchor.
Before her move to Philadelphia, Jones was the evening news anchor and reporter for KOKI, the Fox affiliate in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and as a morning anchor and reporter for WICS-TV in Spingfield, Illinois.
