shanice singing

*Los Angeles – OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network docu-series, “Flex & Shanice,” following actor and comedian Flex Alexander (“One on One”), ’90s pop singer Shanice (“I Love Your Smile”) and their hilarious extended family will return for a new episode Saturday, November 15 at 10 pm ET/PT.

In Saturday’s episode titled, “On a Song and a Prayer,” Shanice has landed a singing gig and it’s a moment she’s been working towards–finally debuting her new sound to the public (see music info below).

Meanwhile, Flex is hard at work on his standup and must choose between his work and his wife when he receives a callback for a television series.

Things continue to be eventful in the house of nine. Uncle Spirit goes on a date with his ex-girlfriend and ponders finding a woman to share his life. Ruba is forced to babysit Imani and Elijah when Shanice’s mother, Crystal, and stepfather, Mike, decide to attend Shanice’s show. Not realizing it, Ruba’s declaration of no iPads leads to the kids schooling him on the art of war.

Shanice’s New Music
In last week’s episode, she revealed her first single, “Gotta Blame Me,” now available on iTunes. Shanice will debut single “We Can Fly” in this week’s episode.

Shanice on the vision behind “Gotta Blame Me”
To create a song that transcends color lines and explores one’s personal responsibility for the aftermath and pain associated with breakups.

Shanice’s describing “Gotta Blame Me”
“Gotta Blame Me” is about the loss of a relationship. It starts out very whimsical and builds up to a beautiful crescendo full of strings. It has a full on powerful orchestra feel which I love.

Shanice regarding new music:
I’ve been working on album for about a year now and I finally got a good collection of songs that I am happy with. So now I am ready to share them with the world really soon.

Shanice Talks Intimacy With Friends
Shanice is out with her girlfriends catching up and tells them about the hotel room she and Flex are staying in after her comeback performance. Naturally, the ladies want details about what Shanice has in mind for the romantic night

About “Flex & Shanice”
“Flex & Shanice” follows the lives of husband and wife duo, actor Flex Alexander (“One on One”), ’90s pop singer Shanice (“I Love Your Smile”) and their extended family all living together under one roof. From the outside looking in, Flex and Shanice are living the dream — they are beautiful celebrities with a long-standing marriage, gorgeous kids and a lovely home in suburbia.  But what this fairytale couple has been hiding from the world is that they have been teetering on the edge of financial ruin for the past five years.  So they moved their hilarious extended family in to help make ends meet, but nine people under one roof can add just as much stress as it relieves.  Cameras follow Flex as he tries to rebuild the stand-up career that he abandoned 18 years ago, and Shanice as she heads back into the studio attempting to restart her R&B career.  The family will try to hold it together as they aim to capture that one big break to help turn their luck around.
