TMZ.com reports that Rock filed divorce papers last Tuesday in New Jersey. In the documents, the funnyman claims that Malaak has been preventing him from seeing 12-year-old Lola and 10-year-old Zahra on a regular basis. As a result, Rock is requesting shared legal and physical custody of the two girls.
Anyone searching for financial drama, can note that Rock admitted that although he and Malaak had a pre-nup when they tied the knot in 1996, the document is now expired in light of them being together for just over 18 years. The divorce itself has been planned out for at least a month, TMZ mentioned.
Rock goes on to say in the divorce documents that he and Malaak took care of who gets what in November when they identified all the community property to be split up once they split. In addition, Rock put in his bid for paying less spousal support by making it known that Malaak has the “ability to work and contribute to her own support.”
We’re also learning that the comedian wanted out of the marriage because it just wasn’t fulfilling to him, according to TMZ:
Although our sources say the divorce won’t be contentious … obviously there is some bad blood. As TMZ previously reported … Rock complained Malaak has been preventing him from seeing their 2 daughters — and he is asking for shared legal and physical custody.
