You could say it’s a thriller with a romantic angle. Or you could simply call it a romantic thriller. In the film, Leah Vaughn (played by Lathan) has to figure out who she should trust or just as importantly, who she should fear.
After a break up with her ex, Dave – played by Chestnut – she jumps into a passionate relationship with a stranger named Carter (Michael Ealy) who is an IT Tech. He seems to be the perfect guy, but after a sexually-charged encounter she sees another side of him that results in a jealous rage that distorts her life.
Our associate Nareasha Willis had the chance to catch up with the cast members, and get some insight towards the preparation in making this Screen Gems film. Of course “The Perfect Guy” is nowhere near Lathan, Ealy or Chestnut’s first film roles, seems it was a learning experience for each of them.
Meanwhile, Sanaa Lathan opens up about how difficult it is to watch herself on the screen.
“When I do a movie, it’s not for me to enjoy [it’s for people to enjoy], said Lathan. When asked if she can relate to her character she puts it this way:
“I hope to one day to have meet my imperfect, perfect guy because no one is perfect.”
As one of the executive producers of the film, Lathan had a goal in mind to make the movie relatable to all viewers.
“Men and women can identify to her [Leah] journey maybe not to that degree of what she been through,” said Lathan.
