*Donald Trump may have love for his campaign supporters, but that apparently doesn’t extend to a #BlackLivesMatter supporter who interrupted him on Saturday.
Reacting to the protestor’s interruption, Trump stood by his supporters, telling “Fox & Friends” on Sunday morning, “I have lot of fans and they were not happy about it.”
“[T]his was a very obnoxious guy, who was a troublemaker who was looking to make trouble,” he said Sunday morning.
According to media sources, about half a dozen Trump supporters descended upon the protester, a black man, after he shouted “black lives matter!” during Trump’s speech at a campaign rally in Birmingham, Alabama. Video footage of the incident showed tussling on the floor with supporters of the GOP presidential hopeful and plainclothes officers as Trump yelled “Get him the hell out of here!”
CNN reports at least 2 of Trump’s supporters “punched and kicked” as the incident went on.
“At least a half-dozen attendees shoved and tackled the protester, a black man, to the ground as he refused to leave the event. At least one man punched the protester and a woman kicked him while he was on the ground,” the network stated.
Secret Service and police officers later intervened save the man as they hustled him out of the arena to the sounds of Trump supporters who yelled “All lives matter!”, “You pissed off the wrong one!” and “Git yer ass outta here!”
Upon hearing the protester was “roughed up” by the mob of supporters, Trump put the blame on the heckler for how he was treated
“Rough up?,” the real estate mogul replied. “Maybe he should have been roughed up because it was absolutely disgusting what he was doing.”
In addition to Trump, his spokeswoman also addressed the incident, pointing out to CNN that “the campaign does not condone this behavior.”
