The source of the beef? Golf, of course.
Apparently, the drama stems from a story Jackson told during an interview about getting a bill from a golf club owned by Trump.
Nothing to raise an eyebrow over, right?
The kicker is Jackson hasn’t been to that particular golf club in years.
“But it’s funny — last week or so, I actually got a bill from Trump National Golf Club,” “The Hateful Eight” star said. “And I haven’t been there in four or five years, so I had my assistant call. They said it was for membership dues. And I said, ‘I’m not a member,’ and they said, ‘Yeah, you are — you have a member number.’ Apparently he’d made me a member of one of his golf clubs, and I didn’t even know it!”
Jackson further fanned the flames for the beef by saying he was a better golfer than Trump “for sure” because “I don’t cheat.”
Not one to back away from conflict that has his name in it, the GOP presidential hopeful took to Twitter to respond to Jackson, saying that “to the best of my knowledge” he had never played golf with the actor. From there, Trump continued to go in on Jackson by criticizing him for being in “too many commercials,” calling him “boring” and saying he’s “not a fan.”
Expanding the conflict to Instagram, Jackson responded to Trump by posting the bill he received.
“A bill from the guy that doesn’t know me & never golfed with me! I’m gonna Block his ass too!” Jackson said in the post, which has since been taken down, presumably because the bill showed private information.
Taking note of the situation, “Black-ish” star Anthony Anderson jumped into the beef as he posted the following comment supporting Jackson.
“C’mon @realDonaldTrump you played Golf with @SamuelLJackson and me as well. we also had lunch together! shrimp and hot dogs. sound familiar?” Anderson wrote.
During an appearance on “Late Night With Seth Myers,” Jackson touched on the situation with Trump as he didn’t hold back with telling his side of the story.
Stay tuned to see if Trump fires back. In the meanwhile, check out Jackson’s appearance on “Late Night” in the video below:
