Teyonah Parris *“Chi-Raq” actress Teyonah Parris is featured in the latest ISSUE magazine, in which she gets personal for her fans by filling out a personalized sheet that reveals a few of her favorite things, including what turns her on.

Teyonah’s ideal man must be intelligent, hold an intriguing conversation, embrace all cultures and people and smell good. Men obsessed with money and those with a vocabulary that doesn’t extend beyond pop culture need not approach the young starlet, as you are a major turn off. We happen to agree with her on that point

Parris also says she hopes to “help young women embrace their natural beauty, change lives through my art and live a life of peace.”

Teyonah Parris When asked about her influences, Parris said: “I’m influenced by many things. Simply turning on the television I feel inundated with images and message to be a certain way. So I try to limit my influences by being aware of what I allow into my environment. I’m always conscious of what’s trying to creep into my subconscious.”

What’s next for the budding star?

“Life and more life!!,” she says, adding “I want to continue to strive towards deepening my relationship with God and finding peace in whatever trials or circumstances I may be given.”

As previously reported, Parris leads an ensemble cast in the upcoming TV One original movie “The Miki Howard Story,” which is being directed by Christine Swanson, and co-stars Darius McCrary as Gerald Levert, Gary Dourdan as Augie Johnson, LisaRaye is Sylvia Rhone, Amari Cheatom as Eddie Phelps and Vanessa Bell Calloway as Josephine Howard.

Parris plays the R&B/Jazz singer who enjoyed mainstream success in the late ’80s and early 1990s. The film is expected to premiere in June on TVOne.
