*19-year-old Zendaya Coleman has been named the new easy, breezy face of CoverGirl, and she announced the news Thursday via Instagram, calling her deal “beautiful” before officially making the reveal.
“I am so honored to join the company of a roster as celebrated and diverse as CoverGirl’s,” Zendaya said in a press release. “I can’t wait to share some of my own beauty tips with fans, and work alongside CoverGirl to continue empowering girls and women to celebrate their individuality.”
CoverGirl expressed excitement about inking a deal with Coleman in a press release:
“Watching Zendaya’s work and authentic conversation with fans in social media was truly inspiring to us at CoverGirl,” says Esi Eggleston Bracey, Executive Vice President, Global Color Cosmetics, P&G. “She is not afraid to stand up for what she believes, and makes no apologies for who she is — we love her energy, confidence, and willingness to experiment and express herself with makeup. I know that together, we will do big things and help evolve the perception of beauty today.”
Zendaya’s ads for the beauty brand will air live during the Grammys on Feb. 15.

You recall Zendaya’s 87th Academy Awards red carpet look shook white folks – most especially Giuliana Rancic, who joked about Coleman’s faux dread locks on Fashion Police. Zendaya got the last laugh when her Oscar look was immortalized as a Barbie doll.
In 2013, the Disney starlet released her debut book, “Between U and Me: How to Rock Your Tween Years with Style and Confidence.” That same year she started work on a clothing line, titled the Shake It Up Dance Clothing Line by Zendaya. The collection is geared for active girls and features legwarmers, shorts, jackets, headbands and athletic apparel and accessories.
