Jeremy Meeks rose to Internet fame back in 2014 after his mug shot surfaced online and garnered national interest from lonely ladies who are fond of criminals and Hollywood seeking to capitalize off his good looks. Meeks is currently in a Sacramento transitional housing program until July, NBC Bay Area reports.
The viral star, who was serving a two-year sentence on a felony weapons conviction, also now has an agent.
“We have a lot in store regarding Jeremy’s new career. There are a multitude of offers on the table,” Jim Jordan of White Cross management said in a statement. He told BuzzFeed that there are even “movies on the table.” White Cross is also using his mugshot on its website as Meeks’ headshot.
“I want to thank my family and everybody for all your love, support and prayers,” Jeremy wrote on Instagram on Wednesday. “I’m overwhelmed and grateful for what lies ahead. I’m ready.”
Meeks will remain in transitional housing for a few weeks before he is “completely free to start his new journey,” his manager said, adding that “Jeremy is humbled and grateful and overwhelmed by the outpouring of love, support, and prayers for him and his family.”
Jeremy’s piercing blue eyes and chiseled cheekbones earned him several nicknames, including “hot felon” and “Mugshot McDreamy” after the Stockton Police Department posted his mugshot on Facebook.
He was arrested in June 2014 after being stopped by police who then found a semiautomatic handgun and two extended magazines for the weapon. Authorities accused Meeks of being a member of the Northside Gangster Crips. He was previously convicted of grand theft auto and served two years in state prison, per Press Democrat.
Even while imprisoned, Meeks hit up social media often to keep his admirers updated on his prison release date. In the days leading up to his release, he wrote, “Looking forward to reuniting with my family. Counting down the days. #6days #spreadtheword.”
