MORE About ‘Greenleaf’ from Oprah Winfrey:
Throughout her life, Oprah has focused on telling compelling stories. OWN’s new mega-church drama, Greenleaf, she says, is a continuation of her lifelong passion for sharing the stories that matter.
“I don’t think there’s anything greater, actually, than our ability as human beings to tell our story, and to have that story listened to and actually heard by others,” Oprah says. “Since I was a little girl growing up in a church in Mississippi, I’ve been telling stories. I’ve been telling stories through The Oprah Show, through [O, The Oprah Magazine], through interviews on OWN, and now this is just another form for me of sharing stories that matter.”
This is a continuation, she says, of sharing themes within the human experience that have the power to make us feel something. “I mean, there isn’t a hashtag big enough to really announce how big it is for me that we are now in the business—the real business—of scripted television.”
