*Aunjanue Ellis has joined the cast of the upcoming feature film “Pimp,” a drama from writer-director Christine Crokos that looks at life for women on the streets of New York amidst the hustles and dangers facing those working in the illegal sex trade, reports Deadline.com.

At the center of the story is a female pimp played by Keke Palmer. She and her girlfriend (Haley Ramm) dream of a better life and hope to get out of the sex game once and for all.

Ellis will play Gloria Ray, mother to one of the young girls in the story.

Newcomer Paola Lazaro has also joined the film. Additionally, Vanessa Morgan appears as a stripper who causes a rift between the two lead characters.

Production on “Pimp” is underway in New York City.
