*Stacey Dash is set to release a memoir in which opens up about a host of personal struggles that she says have shaped her social and political views. Perhaps the most traumatic of the experiences is the domestic violence she once suffered, and rape.
In her book, titled, “There Goes My Social Life: From Clueless to Conservative,” Dash recalled the day she decided to fight back against her abusive ex, firing a gun at him to stop him from attacking her.
Dash told People magazine, “I didn’t feel like I was a person,” the 49-year-old said. “I was so starving for love, that I held on. Some of the time he took care of me, and I got [beaten up] in order to have those moments.”
Stacey’s abusive ex-boyfriend continued to stalk her after their break up, even as she became pregnant with another man’s child. She said her son Austin, now 25, was asleep in his crib right next to her as she was raped by her abuser.
“He had a gun to my head and I thought, ‘My son is in that crib right there,’ ” Ms. Dash said. “[I thought], ‘No you are not going to do this. My son’s life was more important to me than my own.’”

Dash confessed that she was emotionally attached to her abuser until the day she finally said enough is enough.
“I lifted the gun up to his head and pulled the trigger,” she writes. “It was a tough shot to make, since he was coming up and I was going down. My depth perception was off, and I was so disoriented by fear and anger that I missed. But by this time, I was committed. I wanted to kill him. I pulled the trigger two more times, missing him each time. However, he got the message loud and clear.”
“There Goes My Social Life: From Clueless to Conservative” is scheduled to hit bookstores on June 6.
