*“When the Bough Breaks,” is an upcoming psychological thriller directed by Jon Cassar and starring Morris Chestnut, Regina Hall, Theo Rossi and Jaz Sinclair. Chestnut and Hall play a married couple who hire a surrogate (Jaz Sinclair) to carry their baby, but things take a horrifying turn.
HipHollywood caught up with Chestnut and newcomer Sinclair to talk about the film, and Morris praised his young co-star — who was 20-years-old when they filmed — for her impressive performance.
“It’s kind of like [a mixture of ] The Hand That Rocks The Cradle and Fatal Attraction and Single White Female,” explained Sinclair. “And I play Anna Walsh, a young woman who signs up to be a surrogate … and things get a little crazy.”
“She really carries the movie with her performance,” added Chestnut, who serves as an executive producer on the project. “She’s really young, but when you see what she does as an actress … it’s kind of scary.”
Chestnut also said audiences will see a surprising side to Regina Hall.
“They normally see her be really funny and comedic, here she goes there,” explained Chestnut. “She gets emotional, and she’s dealing with the most because she is the woman who can’t conceive a child, so the emotional levels that she plays in this movie are really great to watch.”
“When the Bough Breaks” hits theaters September 9.
Meanwhile, Chestnut had to break it to the writers of his hit show “Rosewood” that he wouldn’t be taking his shirt off in every episode.
“When I was reading the pilot, ‘Rosewood takes his shirt off on the beach’,” Morris told Digital Spy. “And then I read the next episode – page three, ‘Oh he has his shirt off ‘, and then I go to episode three, page five, he has his shirt off again. So every episode!
I had to tell the writers – the writers are great – but I had to tell the writers I want to eat donuts, pizza – you can’t have me taking my shirt off every episode! It doesn’t work, I can’t do it!”
