Evelyn and Carl call it quits

Evelyn & Carl

*New details are emerging about Evelyn Lozada and her split from fiance Carl Crawford.

The ex-MLB superstar proposed to the “Basketball Wives” star with a $1.4 million ring back in 2013. They were set to get married 3 weeks ago but Evelyn pulled the plug after getting suspicious about his fidelity.

thejasminebrand.com reports that while Lozada has yet to comment publicly on her newly single life, her rep did offer up this exclusive statement, saying:

“Evelyn and Carl’s relationship is a private matter. Their primary focus is being responsible parents to their 3-year-old son. There are no other comments at this time.”

The celebrity news site also reports that Lozada is being accused of using her fertility challenges to enhance her storyline on “Basketball Wives.” Folks are questioning not only the timeline of their split, but if she used her fertility struggles and the status of her engagement as storylines to return to the hit VH1 show.

Evelyn Lozada To Carl Crawford

Evelyn’s rep states that the pair split in February, but according to TheYBF, they split a year ago. The site reports:

Carl also wasn’t too keen on having a second baby, we’re told. Evelyn did suffer a miscarriage, which she talked about on her shows, after having their now 3-year-old son Leo. All the doctor visits about the options she now has with her eggs, though, could have been for a made up storyline to get back on “Basketball Wives.”

Evelyn also made it seem like everything was all good between her and Carl when people asked about their relationship on this season of “BBW.” We’re told, though, that once he didn’t move forward with their December 2014 wedding date, it was clear their relationship wasn’t going anywhere.

As for Evelyn’s infidelity accusations, we’re told she’s not lying about that. But she apparently has been aware of Carl’s alleged cheating, which has supposedly been happening since the beginning. He did have a 5-month old with another baby’s mother when Evelyn was 6 months pregnant. The crossover potential with those two relationships alone is quite high. So it’ll be tough to play the victim fiancé card where fidelity is concerned.

The engagement may be off but Evelyn has no plans of returning that 14.5-carat diamond engagement ring.

TMZ reports:

Legally, Lozada is obligated to give the ring back — since an engagement ring is considered a conditional gift in California, the condition being she has to get married. But sources close to Lozada tell us … Crawford ain’t getting it back.

The site also reports that she plans to hold on to the ring until the day comes when she can pass it on to her kids.
